Kidney Failure Risk Equation developer brings machine learning, data science,
and predictive analytics expertise to lab-driven healthcare analytics provider
SUNNYVALE, Calif., and WINNIPEG, Manitoba, March 1, 2016 — Dr. Navdeep Tangri, developer of the Kidney Failure Risk Equation, which uses laboratory data and demographic information to accurately predict the risk of renal failure in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), has joined the advisory board of the steadily growing healthcare-focused insights company Viewics. Viewics provides hospitals and health systems with lab-driven solutions for advanced analytics, including clinical decision support, predictive analytics, population health management, and personalized medicine.
“Dr. Tangri’s knowledge of machine learning, data science, and predictive analytics, along with his experience developing the Kidney Failure Risk Equation are tremendous assets to us,” said Dhiren Bhatia, Viewics’ CEO and co-founder. “We’re honored to have him join our board and lend his expertise to drive measurable value for our customers.”
Dr. Tangri is a medical researcher in the Chronic Disease Innovation Center at Seven Oaks General Hospital and an associate professor in the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine. He has active grants from the Canadian Institute of Health Research, the Kidney Foundation of Canada and the Manitoba Health Research Council.
“For too many healthcare companies and providers, the kind of intelligence solution that Viewics provides is missing right now,” said Dr. Tangri. “My goal is for them to see Viewics as an essential component of their lab information systems and electronic health records.”
Dr. Tangri will be participating in a free webinar hosted by Viewics on Tuesday, May 10.
