StarFX^tm requires no additional hardware to run; this is a software-only solution that is made possible by our patented technology. Just add a video camera to make the magic happen!

Minimum System Requirements

The minimum system requirements to run most video cameras and software are a relatively fast Pentium processor-based system, and plenty of RAM. As you exceed these minimum system requirements, your performance should improve.

For proper operation of StarFX^TM, the minimum recommended platform is:

• Pentium 166Mhz with MMX
• 2MB Video Card
• 32MB RAM
• Win95
• USB Camera
• Video capture application (see software below)

The preferred platform is:

• Pentium II 333Mhz or better
• 64MB RAM or better
• Win98
• PCI Camera w/capture card solution
• 4MB Video card or better
• Video capture application (see software below)

Because Windows is constantly evolving, we try to take advantages of the latest improvements from Microsoft. Review the upgrades below to see which ones you need to get the most out of StarFX and StarFX Studio.

  RECOMMENDED NOT REQUIRED
  If you are running Windows 95 we recommend that you upgrade your system with the latest version of DCOM95 from Microsoft. It is not required that you upgrade to the latest version of DCOM95 but we recommend it for performance reasons.

Supported Video Platforms

We support the following standard video formats (in both frame and stream modes)

• RGB 15, 16, & 24
• YUV9, YUV12, I420
• ATI's proprietary YUV formats

and are adding more all the time.

We have tested the following video capture drivers for compatibility:

• Microsoft WDM Capture Driver (for USB cameras)
• Brooktree BT848 Capture Driver
